Theatre for one zloty „Teatr za złotówkę” („Theatre for one zloty”)

The Actor’s School under the leadership of Halina and Jan Machulski at the Polish ASSITEJ Centre created the “Teatr za złotówkę”. The Theatre is made up of the School’s students. The aim of the Theatre is to present small performances at schools, community centres, social care homes, etc. The project is based on the experiences of Halina Machulska as a pedagogue and director, and the method used during the work is that of drama.     
The value of the „Teatr za złotówkę” activities is based on the mutual exchange process in close contact with the audience. The young actors – the School’s students – learn about the needs of the children and teachers, thereby motivating each other to further work. They learn a new approach towards the audience, which bases on meeting with each other and the exchange of information. They present their acting skills and gain experience. After each performance a theatrical education workshop for children and young people will be held. The actors are being prepared to hold the classes, during which the pupils will create the further fate of the characters.
