“At the Machulskis” Drama Centre

In the 70’s, Halina and Jan Machulski created the legendary Theatrical Circle at the Teatr Ochoty in Warsaw, where many now-famous actors began their artistic careers, like, among others, Juliusz Machulski, Katarzyna Figura, Edyta Jungowska, Ewa Konstancja Bułhak, Piotr Adamczyk. „At the Machulskis” also brought up many talented journalists, lawyers and managers. All of them participated in an exciting theatrical adventure.

Today, once again, a new generation is growing under the wings of the Machulskis. In 2002 they revived the Drama Centre for artistically gifted teenagers aged 12 to 18. At this age the teenagers find themselves in a very important and difficult moment of growing up and the shaping of their characters. During their three years at the circle these young people learn the secrets of theatrical art by attending acting, singing and movement classes. They work together on preparing their own plays. Furthermore the young people participate in annual summer theatre and drama workshops and in the international exchange of theatrical youth. The meeting of other teenagers in the Circle and experiencing together many new things enriches their imagination, widens their horizons and development paths, helps to find their way in a team. It also leads them to act in a more independent and responsible way. It helps to develop sensitive recipients of arts and future theatre instructors.
